SAND PLAY ART THERAPY- a Gestalt Art Therapy approach - Face to face Workshop

Who can participate?

If you are a professional Psychotherapist, Mental health psychologist, Counsellor, Coach, Teacher, Social Worker, this short workshop will give you an idea about the power of symbols and how to support clients using this approach in therapy sessions

If you are not a mental health professional, you can also benefit from the knowledge of this technique and the theory of Jung's symbols in combination with Gestalt Art Therapy, for a personal growth.

Objectives of the workshop:

· Discover the hidden messages of your unconscious here and now.

· Learn the steps to work with Symbols in the Sand tray.

· Working with stories in a Gestalt Art therapy approach

· Integrate the awareness during the Sand play work in your everyday life.

· Create your own Sand tray in a conscientious manner

· Gain tools to be used with your clients in therapy sessions

· Create your own powerful figurines

Participants will receive a certificate of 6 hours completed from Gestalt Art Therapy Centre Australia of “Sand Play Therapy Art Therapy- Gestalt art therapy approach”

This Face to Face workshop is designed for people interested in knowing about how to work with symbols in the sand tray, in their practice and for all individuals with an interest in discovering and learning how to work with their own unconscious bringing it to the “here and now”

Workshop date:

Day: March 25th, 2023

Where: Gestalt Art Therapy centre.

2 Findlay St. Ashgrove. Brisbane. Qld.

Time: 9:30 am to 3:30 pm (Brisbane- Australian time)

Break 12:30 pm to 1:30pm. The centre has refrigerator and microwave, you are welcome to bring your food or very close to Woolworths, there are cafeterias where you can go to have lunch.

SAND PLAY WORKSHOP

Sand play as a Gestalt approach.
Learn how to understand the meaning of symbols.

"Sand play is a form of therapy that gives both child and adult clients the opportunity to portray, rather than verbalize, feelings and experiences often inaccessible and/or difficult to express in words." (Jung Institute of Los Angeles). Sand play therapy, was developed by Swiss Jungian Analyst Dora Kalff.
We have a passion for Sand play therapy and we are respectful with this kind of work. Our interest is combining Sand play + Gestalt Art Therapy thus extending the Sand play work to Gestalt and Art techniques, incorporating the work with the empty chair, painting, sculpture, drama, etc.
Our focus is attending to the client's projections, re-owning projections, enhancing client's responsibility and working in the "Here and Now".

By this symbolic activity and through an active experience, unconscious processes are made visible in this three-dimensional form, much like the dream experience.

Yaro Starak

He graduated in Psychology from the University of Manitoba and in Social Work from the University of British Columbia, Canada. He continued his doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, specializing in group psychotherapy and Adult Education. He trained in Gestalt Therapy with Jorge Rosner at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto and after graduation, he was a faculty member for four years. He worked as a professor at the University of Queensland, Australia and is the founder of the Gestalt Center in Brisbane and Terrigal near Sydney in this country. Yaro conducts gestalt training workshops in Spain, Mexico, Denmark, Germany, and Canada. He also gives workshops for groups of men using indigenous rituals. Yaro is Gestalt Art Therapist CAT®. Co-Director of the Gestalt ART Therapy center (Australia). Co-Director of the Arteterapia Gestalt (Gestalt Art Therapy training in the Spanish language)
