2018, November 24 & 25, Sand Play Therapy a Gestalt approach

Sand Play is a powerful tool/technique in therapy sessions with Adults, Couples, Families, Children.
Discover how to work this tool in a Gestalt Art Therapy approach

What? Playing with sand could be therapeutic?
Yes! More than you think! We promise you!
Sand Play Therapy
Play therapy is a form of counseling or psychotherapy that uses symbolic play to communicate with and help people, especially children, to prevent or resolve psychosocial challenges. This helps them to move towards better social integration, growth and development, emotional modulation, and trauma resolution.
Play therapy can also be used as a tool of diagnosis. A sand play therapist observes a client playing with toys (play-houses, pets, dolls, etc.) to determine the cause of the disturbed behavior. Because trauma is often debilitating, directed sand play therapy works to create change in the present, without the lengthy healing process often required in traditional sand play therapy. According to the psychodynamic view, people (especially children) will engage in play behavior to work through their interior issues and anxieties. According to this viewpoint, play therapy can be used as a self-help mechanism for adults as well.
What you will learn:
  • Learn how to understand the meaning of symbols as therapy tools
  • Use creative methods to enhance your therapy practice with Sand Play tools.
  • Learn how to incorporate the symbolic imagery into the therapy session
  • Find the way of facilitating sand play figures and understand their unconscious meanings.

2018, November 3, Art Therapy and the TESTS

Psychological testing is the administration of psychological tests, which are designed to be "an objective and standardized measure of a sample of behavior".
Discover how to use these tools in a Gestalt Therapy context.

TESTS
And ART THERAPY
A Gestalt approach

The Test could be divided in:

  • Psychometrics TESTS
  • Projective TESTS
Psychometrics TESTS
Psychometrics is a field of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement. As defined by the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME), psychometrics refers to psychological measurement. Generally, it refers to the field in psychology and education that is devoted to testing, measurement, assessment, and related activities.
The field is concerned with the objective measurement of skills and knowledge, abilities, attitudes, personality traits, and educational achievement. Some psychometric researchers focus on the construction and validation of assessment instruments such as questionnaires, tests, rates, judgments, and personality tests. Others focus on research relating to measurement theory (e.g., item response theory; intraclass correlation).
Practitioners are described as psychometricians. Psychometricians usually possess a specific qualification, and most are psychologists with advanced graduate training. In addition to traditional academic institutions, many psychometricians work for the government or in human resources departments. Others specialize as learning and development professionals.
Projective TESTS
In psychology, a projective test is a personality test designed to let a person respond to ambiguous stimuli, presumably revealing hidden emotions and internal conflicts projected by the person into the test. This is sometimes contrasted with a so-called "objective test" / "self-report test", which adopt a "structured" approach as responses are analysed according to a presumed universal standard (for example, a multiple-choice exam), and are limited to the content of the test. The responses to projective tests are content analysed for meaning rather than being based on presuppositions about meaning, as is the case with objective tests. Projective tests have their origins in psychoanalysis, which argues that humans have conscious and unconscious attitudes and motivations that are beyond or hidden from conscious awareness.
How Gestalt Art Therapy works with TESTS
Gestalt Art Therapy Centre incorporates some tests into the training and Therapy sessions/Supervisions.
Tests like:
• House
• Rosebush
• Person
• Animal
The Gestalt ART Therapy approach put more emphasis in to the power of the symbols, the archetypes, the colours & shapes and by the client’s interpretation.
Tests combined with the Gestalt therapy theory, provides a fascinated tool/technique to support clients into the awareness, projections, responsibilities and offering to the client, a safe space where they may explore and integrate the therapy process here and now.
Participate at this short workshop and discover how to use these tests-tools-techniques, into your professional practice and even into your personal life.

2017, November 26 Aura soma Wisdom

The use of the color to discover your inner self
The beginnings of Aura-Soma® are a truly remarkable story. It began with the inspiration of Vicky Wall, a retired surgical chiropodist, living in a small village in England. One evening in 1983, Vicky had a vision in meditation to create colour products. As Vicky recalled the blending of those first radiant bottles, she said: “I only know that other hands had guided mine”. Amazingly, Vicky Wall was blind.
Margaret Cockbain, an acclaimed cranio-sacral osteopath, had worked in partnership with Vicky. Together they dedicated their lives to helping all those who came to their clinic. Margaret was Australian.

Gemma is going to support you in the process of your own "awareness" here and through the Aura soma Equilibrium
With the magical color bottles of Aura soma and Gestalt Therapy philosophy, the clients will be able to project their conflicts, attend to their personal issues and integrate their strengths with the aim to resolve unfinished business and access personal growth.
In this Workshop, we will create our own bottles as a "talisman" that can offer us a symbolic support when we need it in our daily lives.

Gemma Garcia Co-Director of the Gestalt Art Therapy centre is Gestalt Therapist and Aurasoma Therapist Level 2.

2017, November 25 Rorschach techique - Gestalt Approach

Everything is projection ... nothing is projection ...
F.Perls
This interesting TEST- Tool will be presented and used in a contemporary Gestalt approach.
The "traditional Rorschach test" is a psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex algorithms, or both.
Some psychologists use this test to examine a person's personality characteristics and emotional functioning. It has been employed to detect underlying thought disorder, especially in cases where patients are reluctant to describe their thinking processes openly.
The test is named after its creator, Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach. In the 1960s, the Rorschach was the most widely used projective test.

In a Gestalt approach, the test will be used like a projection and be supporting the client's "awareness"
We will not follow the traditional interpretations.

During this workshop you will learn:
  • How to create Rorschach cards
  • How to develop Mixed media techniques building cards in a Rorschach style
  • Starting the process of using the Rorschach cards with clients
  • Applying the SICAIDIR method using the cards
  • Working with the projections of the clients
This will be an interesting and creative workshop

2017, November 18 & 19 Introduction Working with Children in Therapy Sessions

Giving Children support in therapy sessions will contribute to having happy adults in the future.
Kids are the future and they need to have support from the family, school and society.
The way to work with children in a therapy session could be a little different than working with adults. Professional therapists need to adjust their therapeutic tools to the level of children by creating an appropriate environment.

THE JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE

THE JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE

DESCRIPTION:

Life is a journey from the unknown (birth) to the unknown (death). While we live our life, we get entwined in a myriad of complex relationships and at times we feel at a loss or “lost” in a maze of so many tasks and responsibilities that the journey becomes like a search out of a labyrinth.

Historically labyrinths have appeared as designs on pottery or basketry, as body art, and etched on walls of caves or churches. The Romans built many primarily decorative labyrinth designs on walls and floors in tile or mosaic. Many labyrinths set in floors or on the ground are large enough that the path to the centere and back can be walked. They have historically been used both in group ritual and for private meditation.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This weekend residential “retreat” will take us on a journey to the centre using art and symbols, movement and music as we walk through our “labyrinth”. We will turn aside from the highways and walk on footpaths that may lead us out of the maze of life.

ART THERAPY - A GESTALT APPROACH

Hello! Welcome to our creative therapy centre!

Here you will find everything related to Art Therapy using the Gestalt approach.

What is Art ?:

Art is genarally known as what is done by a person whose purpose is to express a message through symbols.

These symbolic tools can be music, paintings, sculptures, theater and so on.

What is Gestalt Therapy ?:

Gestalt therapy is a methodology within psychology that grew out of the research and work of the psychiatrist Dr.Fritz Perls and his wife Dr.Laura Perls.

These two professionals were coming from the psychoanalytic perspective and felt that this method was not enough to work with clients. Today we are clearly aware that no one single method can resolve the issues that involve a range of human suffering and growth.

Gestalt is a German word roughly meaning "Shape" or "configuration".

This concept is understood, in gneral terms, that all individual experiences are shaped by a figure and a background. As time goes on, and our needs change, the figure can become the background and vice versa. So in the client's experience, the figure is changing at all times from becoming a background and as the needs arise, the figure emerges seeking completion.

When we block or prevent this process, we become unaware and suffer. That is a part of the theoretical foundations of Gestalt therapy.

Gestalt therapy, therefore, is a "philosophy", a way of being in the world in the "here and now" and taking "response-aibility" without pushing the river. Thus life is a flow ..

What is GESTALT Art Therapy?

It is the sum of the two previous concepts, Gestal therapy and the use of tools we learn to use in art therapy.

Using the artistic tools and adding the gestalt language between client and psychotherapist we work jointly to decode the messages hidden in the intrinsic symbols representing the client's situation. The Psychotherapist accompanies the client in the process of "discovering" what is helpful and not analysing or interpreting, but suggesting and asking the client what it is he or she knows are the answers and supports client's need to discover the ncessary solutions.

WE ARE SURE THAT YOU WILL BE ATTRACTED by this new way of working with emotions, whether or not you are a professional psychologist or therapist, since many of the exercises can be used personally for your own growth.

Our work is done in Australia & Spain and other countries. We have given workshops and participated in conferences throughout the world. We are located in our offices at the Gestalt Art Therapy Centre in Brisbane -Australia.

BE HAPPY HERE AND NOW..... AND BE CREATIVE !
